A culvert replacement project under Iowa 78 (near mile marker 7.2) in Keokuk County will require closing the road to traffic, beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, June 24, until Friday, June 28, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mount Pleasant construction office.
Motorists will be directed to use an official off-site detour (see map). The 12-mile marked detour will follow Iowa Highway 1, Jefferson County Road H-17, and Jefferson/Keokuk County Road V-63. It is anticipated the detour will be in place for approximately 5 days, weather permitting. Local traffic will have access to Iowa 78 except for the lanes crossing the project area (near mile marker 7.2).
