Iowa Farm Bureau is providing resources to help farm families deal with stress and delivering up to date information on how COVID-19 is impacting agriculture. These are now active on www.iowafarmbureau.com.
Farming is demanding and can be a stressful occupation. Add difficult financial challenges, isolation and factors out of your individual control such as weather and markets, and stress is multiplied for farmers and farm family members. Seeking help to deal with stress or crisis is a sign of strength, not weakness. It’s critical for health and well-being.
The “Resources to Help You & Your Family Cope” page on the IFBF website includes phone numbers and website links to organizations that help individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, substance abuse or family conflicts. It also contains links to podcasts and webinars that discuss strategies for dealing with farm-related stress during uncertain times.
The Iowa Farm Bureau website also links to information compiled by the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) on the impact of COVID-19 on agriculture. The COVID-19 page includes a message from AFBF President Zippy Duvall, assessments on the impact of COVID-19 on agriculture, consumer shifts caused by coronavirus, and links to USDA and Centers for Disease Control resources.
