Report shows more cattle in Iowa feedlots
Cattle and calves on feed for slaughter market in the United States for feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totaled 10.1 million head on July 1, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported last week.
The U.S. inventory was 2 percent below July 1, 2013. There were 620,000 cattle on feed in Iowa feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head on July 1, the report said. This is up 7 percent from July 2013, according to the USDA.
