Beef production was forecast higher in 2013 to 25.68 billion pounds, in the U.S. Department of Agri­culture’s (USDA) World Agri­cult­ural Supply and Demand Estimates report released last week. This is up from 25.63 billion pounds last month.

The pork production forecast for 2013 was raised this month to 23.41 billion pounds, up from 23.4 billion pounds in August, according to the report.

Total red meat production, at 49.38 billion pounds, was forecast higher from 49.31 billion pounds, the report said.
