Public input requested for proposed bridge replacement on Iowa 28 in Polk County

The Iowa Department of Transportation is requesting public input for the proposed replacement of the southbound Iowa 28 bridge over the Raccoon River, 3.7 miles north of Iowa 5, in Polk County.
The project includes replacing the existing 600 x 28 foot continuous girder bridge with a 626 x 38 foot pretensioned prestressed concrete beam bridge with a 10 foot sidewalk on the west side of the bridge.
Construction of the project is expected to begin in 2022.
Through traffic on Iowa 28 would be maintained by using crossovers. For more information, see the website listed below.
