Living in Iowa, there could be a tornado pop up in February or October, not just in the typical summer months, so it’s important to be prepared at all times for severe weather.

Lucinda Parker, public information officer, Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said it’s important that Iowans be prepared for “anything Mother Nature may deliver.” 

“We can’t always predict when disaster might strike, so it is essential that Iowans remain informed of the weather and the possibility for disaster, and act now to prepare a family emergency plan and a have an emergency kit,” she said.
