Old-crop corn stocks in all positions on Sept. 1 totaled 1.24 billion bushels, up 50 percent from Sept. 1, 2013, the U.S. Department of agriculture (USDA) said in its grain stocks report last week. Of the total stocks, 462 million bushels are stored on farms, up 68 percent from a year earlier, the report said. Off-farm stocks, at 774 million bushels, are up 42 percent from a year ago. There were 91 million bushels of corn stored on Iowa farms as of Sept. 1, the report said. This is up from 67 million one year ago. There were 177.46 million bushels of Iowa corn stored off farm, up from 136.6 million last year.
