The Iowa Transportation Commission had previously planned to hold a tour and monthly meeting April 13-14 in Waterloo. As a result of the COVID-19 health crisis, the Iowa Transportation Commission will now meet via conference call.

As planned, this meeting will include a public input session, but via conference call rather than in person. The public input meeting allows the Commission to hear about transportation matters from representatives of local government, interest groups, and individuals. Items that may be discussed include the Iowa Transportation Improvement Program; transportation policies; and highway, aviation, rail, river, bicycle, pedestrian, and public transit issues.

Anyone wishing to present to the Commission is required to schedule time on the agenda prior to the meeting. A request must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on April 9, 2020, to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Program Management Bureau, 800 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa 50010, email shawn.majors@iowadot.us.

A brief telephonic business meeting will begin at 8 a.m. immediately followed by the telephonic public input meeting. A detailed agenda complete with call in instructions will be posted on https://www.news.iowadot.gov/ prior to the meeting.

The Commission will not be touring transportation projects in the area as originally planned.
