According to the October 22nd USDA Crop Progress report, 23% of Iowa’s corn crop has been harvested, which is behind the 5-year average of 55% complete. Iowa’s soybean harvest is also progressing slowly with only 61% harvested compared to the 5-year average of 81%.

At the Crop Reporting District level (CRD), the Iowa corn harvest ranged from 44% complete in the Southeast CRD to only 14% complete in the West Central CRD. Over 70% of soybeans have been harvested in the northern crop reporting districts as well as the East Central CRD, however soybean harvest is only 29% complete in South Central Iowa.

As of October 26th, much of the state still had 4 inch soil temperatures above 50 degrees.
