Construction work on the Iowa 146 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad in Le Grand is delayed and Iowa 146 traffic will be detoured around the work zone during the winter months. The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Marshalltown construction office anticipates the roadway will reopen to traffic in June 2019, weather permitting.

Approximately two miles of Iowa 146 has been closed to traffic and detoured since April 2018 when the at-grade crossing with the Union Pacific Railroad was closed. The closure is allowing construction crews to construct a new bridge and approximately two miles of highway.

This construction project was expected to be completed by November 2018. However, the weather and other contributing factors created the delay in the project completion. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
