If you thought the gourd you brought home from the pumpkin patch this year was big ... think again.
Ashley Young has your pumpkin beat by at least 1,500 pounds. If you drive by her house on East 25th Street in Des Moines, you can see the orange monster that puts your pumpkin to shame.
This is the second year that Ashley's dad, grower Don Young Jr., has displayed one of his record-breaking pumpkins on her lawn. The 1,641 (and a half) pound beast — which was transported with a fork lift and crane — is the product of more than a decade of selective breeding, self-taught horticulture skills and hours upon hours of TLC.
