The Iowa Farm Bureau Political Action Committee (PAC) has designated Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and U.S. Senate candidate Ashley Hinson as a “Friend of Agriculture” for the 2026 general election on Nov. 3.

Guided by grassroots input from every county Farm Bureau in the state, the Iowa Farm Bureau PAC made the Friend of Agriculture designations based on support of Farm Bureau policies and issues that directly impact Iowa’s agricultural economy, farm families and their communities.

Naig and Hinson have a proven track record of leading the way on issues that matter to Farm Bureau members and understand that all types of agriculture, including crops,  livestock and niche markets, are key to growing a more prosperous Iowa.

“Our PAC takes great care evaluating candidates based on voting records, past support and grassroots input from every county Farm Bureau in the state,” said Tim Diamond, Iowa Farm Bureau PAC chair and Grundy County farmer. “Our process is grounded in support for Farm Bureau policies, and we are proud to stand behind candidates who have earned our endorsement and will continue to be champions for agriculture and Iowa’s hard-working farm families.”

Naig, who grew up on a farm in northern Iowa, has served as Iowa secretary of agriculture since 2018. He previously served as the deputy secretary at the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.

Hinson is running to represent Iowa in the U.S. Senate, following Sen. Joni Ernst’s announcement that she would not seek reelection. Hinson currently represents Iowa’s 2nd District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She was first elected to Congress in 2020 and previously served in the Iowa House from 2016-2020.

Four candidates vying to represent Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives also were designated as a Friend of Agriculture by the PAC Committee: Mariannette Miller-Meeks in the 1st District, Joe Mitchell in the 2nd District, Zach Nunn in the 3rd District and Chris McGowan in the 4th District.

The PAC committee also made Friend of Agriculture designations for candidates seeking seats in the Iowa House and Senate. Those designations are listed in the Area News sections of this week’s Spokesman.

The 2026 general election will be held on Nov. 3.
