Iowa gardeners and farmers who end up with extra sweet corn, apples or tomatoes during the growing season can now donate their fresh produce to a local food bank and qualify for a new state tax credit.
The Farm to Food Donation Tax Credit, approved by the Iowa Legislature last year, gives taxpayers a 15 percent tax credit, up to $5,000, for donating food to a registered emergency feeding organization.
