Bacon Buddies Returned to 2024 Calhoun County Expo 

Back by popular demand, the Calhoun County Pork Producers worked with the Iowa Pork Producers Association and Special Olympics Iowa to give local individuals with disabilities the opportunity to show a pig at the 2024 Calhoun County Expo, thanks to the Bacon Buddies® program. 

Bacon Buddies helps Special Olympians experience acceptance by working with 4-H and FFA mentors. Participants also gain the opportunity to talk to a livestock judge in a public setting, and earn a blue ribbon for their efforts. Dr. Paul Armbrecht, DVM, of Twin Lakes served as the judge again this year.
