2017 Harvest Progress

According to the October 2nd USDA Crop Progress report, 6% of the Iowa corn crop has been harvested, well behind the 5-year average of 18% complete. However, 16% of Iowa soybeans have been harvested, slightly behind the 5-year average of 23%. Last year at this time, 9% of the Iowa corn crop was harvested and 19% of the 2016 Iowa soybean crop.
At the Crop Reporting District level, corn harvest ranged from 2% complete in the Northwest crop reporting district to 15% complete in the Southeast crop reporting district. Soybean harvest is 26% complete in the East Central crop reporting district, 23% complete in the Northeast crop reporting district, but only 5% complete in Iowa’s South Central crop reporting district.
