Five Iowa County Families were recognized as a Heritage Farms, those who had their farms in the family for 150 years, on Aug. 14 at the 2025 Iowa State Fair. The Iowa Department of Agriculture and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation established the Century Farms Program (2006) as a cooperative effort to honor Iowa families who have maintained farms for 150 years or longer. 

Presenting the Heritage Farm Awards to 203 families were Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and Iowa Farm Bureau President Brent Johnson. Receiving the award from Iowa County were David A Dermody, Troy Township, 1874; Dwight & Peg Gildemeister, Pilot Township, 1874; Richard Peirce, ValleyBurg Farms, Troy Township, 1853; Edward & Kathryn Pundt, Iowa Township, 1863; Sayers Century Farm, Vicki Davidson, James Sayers, Carla Myers, Adda Sayers, Susan bell, Nancee Herman, Justin Sayers, Marengo Township, 1874.
