Progressive Farmer, Page County Extension and Page County Farm Bureau sponsored a Farm Safety Day for 132 area preschoolers at Wibholm Hall, Page County Fairgrounds in Clarinda on Sept. 28. Participants attended from South Page Preschool, Essex Preschool, Turnbull at Shenandoah, Noah’s Ark Preschool in Clarinda, Grandma’s House Daycare in Clarinda, and Clarinda School Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten.

The children rotated through seven sessions: Grain Safety, Hand Washing, First Aid, Hidden Hazards on the Farm, Animal Safety, Tractor Safety, and Fire Safety. Presenters were Brokaw FFA members, Alicia Johnson from Page County Farm Bureau, Kevin Clement from Agrivision, and firemen from Clarinda Fire Department. Page County Farm Bureau donated Agricultural ABC Coloring Books and boxes of soy crayons for the take-home goodie bags for each child. Debbie Swanson, county youth coordinator with Page County Extension, coordinated the event.
