The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) House of Delegates will convene Dec. 6, 2022, at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in downtown Des Moines. The House of Delegates will reconvene Dec. 7 and will be in session until such time or times as determined by the delegate body. 

Eight young farmers will compete in the 2022 Young Farmer Discussion Meet at the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting Dec. 6 in Des Moines. Eight young farmers will compete in the 2022 Young Farmer Discussion Meet at the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting Dec. 6 in Des Moines.

The competitors, who advanced from preliminary rounds at the Iowa Farm Bureau Young Farmer Conference earlier this year, are Hilary Lanman of Jefferson County, Kaleb Marshall of Jackson County, Molly Dolch of Adair County, Jill Marshall of Jackson County, Marena Henkle of Worth County, Lillie Beringer-Crock of Jones County, John Schutte of Clayton County and Mary Ebert from Guthrie County.

The winner of the state discussion meet receives a $2,500 Cat Dealer gift certificate and $1,500 from GROWMARK and will advance to the national Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) Discussion Meet at the 2023 American Farm Bureau Federation annual convention in Puerto Rico in January.

Also, Melissa Moretz of Worth County will represent Iowa in the YF&R Excellence in Ag competition at the AFBF annual convention. 

The winners of the YF&R competitions at the AFBF convention will receive a $35,000 credit towards a new Ford vehicle and paid registration to the AFBF FUSION Conference in Jacksonville, Florida, courtesy of Ford. 

Second place receives a $25,000 credit towards a new Case IH piece of equipment, courtesy of Case IH. Third place receives a $2,500 Investing in Your Future cash prize, courtesy of AmericanAg; a Case IH branded safe, courtesy of Case IH; and $1,665 worth of Stanley Black & Decker merchandise (PROTO, DeWalt, Stanley, Lenox & Irwin), courtesy of Stanley Black & Decker.
