On Thursday, Nov. 6, the Clear Creek Amana Middle School FFA Chapter attended The Pork Congress judging competition held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. At the competition, FFA and 4-H members judged one market class, one breeding class, one market analysis class, and a keep/cull class. Judgers also took a meat quality quiz and a commercial industry quiz on swine. The competition consisted of 510 senior and junior FFA and 4-H members. Senior members are 9-12th grade and junior members are 8 grade and below. Special congratulations to the middle school team of Olivia Allen, Kyndall Burns, Cayenne Harker and Jameson Charbon for earning 11th place team in the junior division. Thanks to all of the sponsors of this event and to the Iowa Pork Producers Association for putting on this great event. Students learn so much by seeing the live animals and carcass evaluation.
