Cheering for Iowa's next generation
It’s one of Iowa’s favorite signs of spring. Student athletes from across the state will gather in Des Moines to compete in the state wrestling tournament Feb. 16-18, state girls’ basketball tournament Feb. 27-March 4 and state boys’ basketball tournament March 6-11.
Iowa Farm Bureau is proud to support this next generation of Iowans as the sole title sponsor of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) and the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA).
In addition to sponsoring the state tournaments, Farm Bureau supports Iowa students, both on and off the court, through the following activities:
Over 1,200 commemorative basketballs are distributed each year to athletes, coaches and schools who qualify for the state basketball tournaments.
Farm Bureau sponsors Coaches Clinics, which count toward coaching authorization renewal, including required ethics related to coaching.
Players and cheerleaders in IHSAA sponsored post-regular season tournaments are provided free secondary medical insurance, while all participants in IHSAA-sanctioned sports are provided free catastrophic injury insurance through Iowa Farm Bureau’s partnership with the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
Iowa Farm Bureau funds scholarships and grants to outstanding young citizens engaged in academic leadership and student government.
Farm Bureau also sponsors the annual Governor’s Scholar Recognition Program, which recognizes more than 400 of Iowa’s best students at a ceremony held in Des Moines. These students invite their most influential teacher for recognition, as well.
