October is National Pork Month, a time to recognize and appreciate the incredible contributions of those involved in pork production across Iowa. With a remarkable workforce of 147,000 dedicated Iowans, our state stands at the forefront of the global pork industry. This vast network includes not only the hardworking farmers who raise livestock but also the skilled professionals in various sectors that support this vital industry. From animal nutritionists who ensure our pigs are healthy and thriving, to transportation experts who manage the logistics of moving products efficiently, each role is crucial. Equipment manufacturers design the tools and machinery that enhance productivity, while meat processors work diligently to transform raw materials into quality products. Additionally, food safety specialists play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards, ensuring that pork is safe and delicious for consumers. Retail workers, too, bring pork products to our tables, connecting farms to families.

In celebration of #Porktober25, the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) honors all these individuals and their hard work, which collectively makes Iowa’s pork production the envy of the world. It’s a time to recognize the dedication, innovation, and passion that goes into every aspect of this industry.
