The scholarship committee awarded six scholarships this year. Each student completed a lengthy application and provided two letters of reference. Applicants were selected based on academic standing, leadership experience, civic involvement, and their commitment to rural Iowa and the agricultural community. Each student participated in a brief interview with our scholarship committee, which included Kaitlin Walton, Dustin Marolf, Noah Coppess and Lakaya Tenley.
Tara Hennings, the daughter of Randy and Stacey Hennings of Bennett, is studying Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Iowa. When asked, "Why are you a good investment for Farm Bureau if you are selected for a scholarship?” Tara responded: “I am a good investment for Farm Bureau because I have a background in agriculture that has given me the knowledge and an appreciation for everything our farmers do. Along with this, I was born and raised in a small community and plan on returning to my rural life after receiving my degree. I want the best for my town and am willing to invest my time and effort into seeing it succeed in the future. With the scholarship money I will focus hard on my studies and future career in hopes of making a difference in my rural community.” Congratulations, Tara!
