Traffic on westbound Iowa 122 in Mason City will be shifted to the eastbound lanes between Monroe and Carolina avenues beginning Friday, April 27, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mason City construction office.
Beginning Friday afternoon, westbound traffic will be moved into a head-to-head traffic pattern in the eastbound lanes. A center turn lane will be in place from South Jefferson Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue. The westbound lane closure is expected to last until early November as part of a two-year reconstruction project of Iowa 122.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
