Week of September 12 fuel and energy price update

DES MOINES – The price of natural gas rose $.24, ending the week at $3.06/MMbtu.
Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $1.85 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $43.58.
Brent crude oil fell $2.05, and is currently priced at $45.85.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $44.00 and Brent crude was at $45.87.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, September 13th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.21 across Iowa according to AAA. This is $.02 lower than one week ago and $.18 lower than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.18, which is a penny lower than last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were one cent lower with a statewide average of $2.37. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.47 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.01 higher than the national average of $2.36.
Wholesale ethanol prices were $.07 higher this week, closing at $1.51.
The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.41 for U87-E10, $1.77 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.53, ULSD#1 is at $1.70, and E-70 is priced at $1.64 per gallon.
Heating Fuels
Natural Gas prices rose $.24 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $3.06 / MMbtu.
