DES MOINES – Global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $1.76 per barrel over last week.
Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $1.76 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $47.40.
Brent crude oil fell $0.74 and is currently priced at $53.52.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $43.58 and Brent crude was at $45.85.
Motor Fuels
As of Monday, Sept. 11th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.54 across Iowa according to AAA. This is down 1 cent from last week and $.32 higher than one year ago. The national average on Monday was $2.68, up $.02 from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa rose $.02 from last week’s price with a statewide average of $2.64. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.37 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.07 lower than the national average of $2.71.
Wholesale ethanol prices were down $.02 from last week’s price, currently at $1.54.
The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.69 for U87-E10, $1.92 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.87, ULSD#1 is at $2.05, and E-70 is priced at $1.70 per gallon.
Heating Fuels
Natural Gas prices are down $.03 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.83/ MMbtu.
Continuing throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa once a month.
