Week of November 14 fuel and energy price update

DES MOINES – Fuel prices in Iowa are trending lower this week with retail gasoline down $.06, closing at $2.07 per gallon, and diesel prices down $.05, closing at $2.36.
Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.96 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $45.73.
Brent crude oil rose $1.02, and is currently priced at $46.75.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $41.74 and Brent crude was at $40.28.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, November 15th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.07 across Iowa according to AAA. This is $.06 lower than one week ago and $.15 lower than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.15, down $.05 from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down $.05 from last week’s price with a statewide average of $2.36. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.43 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.04 lower than the national average of $2.40.
Wholesale ethanol prices were down $.02 from last week’s price, closing at $1.53.
The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.26 for U87-E10, $1.49 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.44, ULSD#1 is at $1.64, and E-70 is priced at $1.59 per gallon.
Heating Fuels
Propane prices held steady from last week’s report, with a statewide average of $1.04 per gallon. Home heating oil fell $.05 from last week, ending with a statewide average of $1.83. Natural Gas prices rose $.17 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.49 / MMbtu.
