 Motor Fuels

  • As of Wednesday, January 19, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.14 across Iowa according to AAA. 
    1. Prices rose 6 cents from last week’s price and 82 cents higher than one year ago. 
    2. The national average on Wednesday was $3.32, up 2 cents from last week’s price.
  • Retail diesel prices in Iowa were up 5 cents this week with a statewide average of $3.43. 
    1. One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.50 in Iowa. 
    2. The current Iowa diesel price is 20 cents less than the national average of $3.63.
  • Wholesale ethanol held steady and is currently priced at $2.16.
  • The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.36 for U87-E10, $2.60 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.63 for ULSD#2, $2.88 for ULSD#1, and $2.27 per gallon for E-70 prices.


 Heating Fuels

  • Propane prices were up 2 cents with a statewide average of $1.89 per gallon.
  • Home heating oil prices rose 17 cents, with a statewide average of $3.09 per gallon.
  • Natural gas prices fell 42 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $4.22/MMbtu.
