Road construction work at the Interstate 35/U.S. 30 interchange in Ames will require closing the northbound lanes of I-35 from 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 until 5 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1. Closure of the southbound lanes of I-35 will start at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, and end at 5 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Jefferson construction office.
The eastbound U.S. 30 off-ramp to northbound I-35 will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 to Thursday, Nov. 1.
Motorists will be detoured around the closures on north- and southbound I-35 using Iowa 210, U.S. 69, South Dayton Avenue, 13th Street, and I-35.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
