Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today encouraged Iowa farmers and agribusiness professionals to consider applying for a Nuffield International Scholarship. The program allows participants to travel internationally for a minimum of 16 weeks, researching agricultural production, distribution, management and/or communication.
A Nuffield International Scholarship supported by the Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Pork Producers Association, National Pork Board and Iowa Farm Bureau Federation is open specifically for those involved in Iowa agriculture.
The application deadline for this scholarship is October 31, 2017. More information about the application process can be found at http://nuffieldinternational.org.
“I have had the opportunity to see first-hand some of the farmers and agribusiness leaders who have participated in the Nuffield International scholarship program and I am excited for this program to expand in Iowa. I do encourage Iowa farmers or others involved in the agriculture industry to learn more about the program and consider applying for the scholarship,” Northey said.
Approximately 80 Nuffield Scholarships will be awarded to leading farmers and agri-professionals for the 2018/19 program. Current member countries who select emerging agricultural entrepreneurs and leaders each year to participate in this transformative program include the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Brazil and the USA.
The Nuffield Scholarship was developed in 1947 by entrepreneur Mr. William Morris of the United Kingdom as post-war strategy to stimulate progressive farmers to increase food production and rebuild economy. There are currently over 1700 Nuffield Scholars worldwide, forming a powerful network of global-thinking agriculturalists that have committed to life-long learning and contributions to the prosperity of the sector and society.
