Nighttime construction work to replace two damaged steel girders on northbound Interstate 35 between Wright County roads C-70 and R-75 (exit 151) and Franklin County Road C-47 (exit 159) near Dows will require closing the roadway to traffic from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 and Wednesday, Aug. 16, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mason City construction office

During this closure, motorists will be detoured around the construction zone by traveling west on Hamilton County Road D-20 (exit 147) to U.S. 69, north on U.S. 69 to Iowa 3, and east on Iowa 3 to northbound I-35 (exit 165).

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
