New Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Rule Takes Effect August 29th

This past June, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) finalized its rule regarding operating small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The rule also sets certification requirements for operators. Instead of approving small drones on a case-by-case basis, the new law relaxes regulation on any qualifying UAS. The regulation applies to UASs under 55 lbs. which are used for work or recreational purposes. Operators will not be required to obtain an airworthiness certificate or insurance....
