Lyft hits a bump in the road ahead of Iowa debut

Ride-sharing service Lyft said it plans to begin offering its services in Iowa Thursday, but Iowa Department of Transportation officials on Wednesday warned that the company might be operating illegally.
Lyft cannot legally provide its services in Iowa until a required registration has been completed, said Andrea Henry, a DOT spokeswoman.
"(Lyft officials) would have to submit a registration that we could review and, assuming everything is in line, give them conditional approval to operate," Henry said in an email Wednesday. "Since they haven't submitted a registration, we cannot begin that process."
