The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mason City driver’s license service center will be closed Thursday, April 25 through May 2 to make building improvements. The self-service kiosk at our Mason City location will also be unavailable during the building repairs.   

There will be no Iowa DOT driver’s license services available in Mason City on Thursday, April 25, but we will be offering services temporarily at the Iowa DOT’s District 2 Office, located at 428 43rd Street SW in Mason City beginning on Friday, April 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  They will have regular service center hours of 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday at the temporary location. 

In the temporary location, DOT will offer the following services:

  • Driver’s license and identification issuance and renewals
  • Drive tests
  • Records transactions

The DOT will not be able to offer knowledge testing or CDL skills/road tests during this time.
