The crop reporting deadline for all spring seeded crops in Iowa is July 15, 2017.  Please plan to visit the county FSA Office to report your acres as soon as possible.

In most cases, all cropland on the farm must be reported for program compliance.  Also needed for the acreage report are planting dates, type and variety of crops, and accurate acreages.  It is the producer's responsibility to accurately report acres and producer's share in individual crops.  Discrepancies found later may affect eligibility for all FSA administered programs.

ARC/PLC Signup

Producers who chose coverage from the safety net programs established by the 2014 Farm Bill, known as the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) or the Price Loss Coverage (PLC) program, can visit FSA county offices through August 1, 2017 to sign contracts to enroll them in coverage for 2017.  Although the choice between ARC and PLC is completed and remains in effect through 2018, producers must still enroll their farm by signing a contract each year to receive coverage.

Sign-up for 2017 can be done at any point, including prior to crops being planted and it's one less thing to do during the busy crop reporting time.

County Committee Nominations

The nomination period for local FSA county committees begins on June 15th. Nomination forms must be postmarked or received in the County FSA Office by close of business on Aug. 1st.

To be eligible to serve on the FSA county committee, a person must participate or cooperate in an agency administered program, be eligible to vote in a county committee election and reside in the Local Administrative Area (LAA) where they are nominated.

Producers may nominate themselves or others as candidates. Minority and women farmers and ranchers are strongly encouraged as nominees. To become a nominee, eligible individuals must sign form FSA-669A. The form and more information about county committee elections is available online at: http://www.fsa.usda.gov/elections.

Elected county committee members serve a three-year term and are responsible for making decisions on FSA disaster, conservation, commodity and price support programs, as well as other important federal farm program issues.
