The RISE program was established to promote economic development in Iowa through the construction or improvement of roads and streets. Iowa cities and counties are eligible for funding in the form of a grant, loan, or combination thereof. Projects must involve construction or improvement of a public roadway. There are two RISE project types: 1) Immediate Opportunity, and 2) Local Development. More information is available at https://iowadot.gov/systems_planning/Grant-Programs/Revitalize-Iowas-Sound-Economy-RISE-Program.
Perry: Up to $884,703 from the city share of the RISE Fund was approved for a Local Development grant to assist in the reconstruction of approximately 1,145 feet of Bateman Street, 394 feet of 3rd Street and 202 feet of 4th Street located on the north side of town. This project is necessary to provide improved access to two lots totaling more than three acres for industrial purposes. This project is anticipated to be completed by December 2020.
Marshalltown: Up to $1,640,342 from the city share of the RISE Fund was approved for a Local Development grant to assist in the construction of approximately 1,720 feet of Edgewood Street and 1,540 feet of North 8th Avenue located on the northeast side of town. This project is necessary to provide access to nine lots totaling more than 48 acres for industrial purposes. This project is anticipated to be completed by December 2020.
Bondurant: A funding commitment was approved pending Iowa Economic Development Authority approval of the 178-acre Fortner-Eshelman property as a Certified Site in Bondurant. This commitment would assist in attracting RISE-eligible business by providing up to 60 percent funding to make any necessary roadway improvements to U.S. 6, 32nd Street SW, Grant Street S, Poplar Drive SW, and Interstate 80 ramps located on the south side of town. Per the Iowa’s Certified Sites Program RISE policy, the final roadway project scope and funding will be submitted at a later date by the department to the Commission for final award of a dollar amount.
