How did the Iowa Farm Bureau Young Farmer Program help you?

Ed Wiederstein, Audubon, IA“Young farmer activities allowed me to see what Farm Bureau, as an organization, really did for its members and for agriculture. It convinced me that an individual could make a difference when dealing with ag issues. People that I got to know--volunteers and staff--also convinced me that this is the organization where I should be involved.”
—Ed Wiederstein, Audubon, IA, Audubon County

Becky Struthers, Collins, Iowa“Participation in the young farmer program gave me the confidence to to develop my leadership skills and become increasingly active in my community. I appreciated the interaction I had with Farm Bureau staff who encouraged me to bring out the best in myself. I developed many friendships while in the program that I still have today. ”
—Becky Struthers, Collins, IA, Story County

Steve Anderegg, Mason City, Iowa“The young farmer program has given me the opportunity to broaden my perspective of agriculture, not only in Iowa but also across the nation. I have been able to sharpen my leadership skills and have had the pleasure of working with many outstanding individuals.”
—Steve Anderegg, Mason City, IA, Cerro Gordo County

How can I get involved in the young farmer program?
It's easy! Just call your county Farm Bureau office to find out more about young farmer activities in your county.

What if my county doesn't have a young farmer committee?
If your county Farm Bureau does not have a young farmer committee, Farm Bureau staff and volunteer leaders will be happy to help you start one. Young farmers who are not involved on a county level can still become involved on a state level. Contact your county Farm Bureau office to find out more about state young farmer events.
