2008 ICN FARM INCOME TAX SEMINAR

Five major pieces of legislation were passed in 2008 affecting income taxes; Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, Housing Assistance Tax Act of 2008, Heroes Earnings Assistance and Relief Tax Act of 2008, Farm Bill 2008, and The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. It was a busy year for Congress and it was the first times that I remember that tax law changes were actually part of the Farm Bill.

Roger McEowen, Leonard Dolezal Professor in Agricultural Law, Iowa State University, will present information on the new tax law changes for 2008.  Charles Brown, Farm Business Services Administrator at Iowa Farm Bureau, will present some farm income tax planning strategies and information on how the new tax law changes might affect your farm operation.

Two-way communication is available at the ICN sites, so questions are welcomed. We will be originating from Iowa State University, so we will be live there.

November 25th is the date for our 2008 Farm Income Tax Seminar. This is our 15th year using the Iowa Communications Network to bring you the latest information on farm income tax law. The seminar will last from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm and will be available at various sites across the state. Iowa Farm Bureau, Iowa State University Center for Agriculture Law and Taxation, and the Iowa Farm Business Association, all cooperate to bring you this seminar. Registration is free and no pre-registration is required.

Charles Brown will also present the 2008 Farm Income Tax Seminar at Wayne County Farm Bureau on December 1st from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm, Jefferson County Farm Bureau on December 8th from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm and Mahaska County Farm Bureau on December 9th from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
