TREES FOREVER WORKING WATERSHEDS: BUFFERS & BEYOND INITIATIVE

Partnering with Trees Forever, a private, Iowa-based nonprofit organization, the Working Watersheds: Buffers and Beyond Iinitiative is an exciting program that is showing farmers, rural landowners and all Iowans how stream side buffers of trees, shrubs and grasses improve water quality by reducing soil erosion. The $2 million initiative establishes demonstration and project sites throughout the state of Iowa that showcase flexible approaches to establishing and maintaining streamside buffers. In selected watersheds, it also takes a system approach to water quality protection. It also is developing a network of buffer specialists and providing recognition of those farmers who use streamside buffers. Syngenta is a corporate partner.

Find out more about the Trees Forever Working Watersheds: Buffers & Beyond Initiative and how to apply to be a demonstration or project site on their web site under "Water Quality Initiatives."
